2016-17 Dessins manufacturés

Dessins manufacturés présente des images qui semblent être au premier abord des dessins abstraits. Ces dessins pourraient être le fruit d’une expérimentation en dessin automatique où le but serait d’éviter toute intention dans le processus créatif. En réalité ces dessins d’apparence organique sont des patrons que l’on retrouve dans des objets manufacturés tout à fait banals. Cette série invite donc le regardeur à reconsidérer sa relation à la matérialité et à la fonctionnalité en amenant à son attention des objets a priori insignifiants. Elle l’invite aussi à explorer l’interaction entre la banalité du quotidien et le domaine de l’esthétique.

Dessins manufacturés (Manufactured Drawings) shows images that look like abstract drawings at first glance. They could be the result of some experimentation in automatic drawing where the goal would be to avoid as much as possible any intent in the creative process. But these organic looking drawings are actually patterns found in mundane manufactured objects. This series thus invites viewers to reconsider their relationship to materiality and functionality, by transforming a priori insignificant objects into the subject of their attention. It also invites them to explore the interplay between the banality of everyday life and the realm of aesthetics.
